Description

The Wilwood D8-4 rear caliper kit is a direct replacement for the original equipment calipers on all Chevrolet Corvettes from 1965 to 1982. Designed with Type III hard anodized forged billet aluminum bodies, these calipers provide exceptional durability and resistance to corrosion, eliminating common issues like rust, bore pitting, and seal failures associated with OE calipers. Stainless steel pistons and high-temperature seals ensure reliable performance under demanding driving conditions, reducing maintenance needs and extending caliper lifespan. These calipers are engineered for low-maintenance performance, offering significant weight savings that can improve vehicle handling and responsiveness. The six-piston pad clamping power delivers enhanced braking force for safer, more confident stops. The D8-4 calipers mount in the stock location over stock rotors, using the original style D8 brake pads, and fit snugly inside most *67 or newer production wheels. Some wheels, such as 1965-66 OE *JK* steel wheels and certain aftermarket replica alloy wheels, may require a 3/16* or wider wheel spacer for proper clearance. Each kit includes DOT-compliant stainless braided brake lines and high-friction Promatrix brake pads, ensuring a complete and reliable braking upgrade for classic Corvette enthusiasts.
