During normal crankcase ventilation, oil-laden vapors can travel through the intake tube and manifold runners, where they may accumulate and contribute to reduced intake cleanliness and lower fuel octane. These effects can be more pronounced in forced-induction applications, but all engines can benefit from separating oil vapor before it reaches the intake tract. Designed for the driver side, this black anodized separator provides a practical solution for managing blow-by contaminants in the PCV system.
The J&L Oil Separator 3.0 uses a multistage filtration system to capture fine oil vapors while allowing cleaned air to continue through the intake. A fine stainless steel mesh screen traps vapor particles, while the internal aluminum honeycomb filter encourages the captured oil to condense and fall into the removable collection chamber. This process helps prevent separated oil from being carried back into the intake. The reservoir holds approximately 3 fluid ounces and can be drained during routine maintenance, typically every 2,000 to 3,000 miles depending on driving conditions and engine operation.

The knurled tank base supports easy removal when draining the separator, and an O-ring seal helps provide a reliable, leak-resistant connection.
