The J&L JLT3033D-B Oil Separator 3.0 is designed for the driver side of 2005-2010 Ford F-150 models equipped with the 5.4L engine. During normal crankcase ventilation, oil vapors can travel through the PCV system and accumulate in the intake tube, intake manifold runners, and combustion system. This can contribute to intake contamination and may reduce fuel octane, particularly on supercharged or turbocharged applications. The J&L oil separator helps capture these vapors before they reach the intake.
The separator is milled from solid billet aluminum for durable, long-term performance. Its removable, knurled tank base makes draining quick and convenient, while the integrated O-ring seal helps prevent leaks. Quick-connect PCV fittings support a straightforward installation and provide a secure connection to the factory-style ventilation system. The black anodized finish adds corrosion resistance and a clean appearance in the engine compartment.
J&L uses a multistage filtration design to separate oil from PCV vapor. A fine stainless steel mesh screen captures small oil droplets and allows them to collect until they become heavy enough to fall. The vapor then passes through an aluminum honeycomb filter that further promotes condensation and drainage into the removable tank. This process allows cleaner air to continue toward the intake while helping reduce oil accumulation. The separator holds up to 3 fluid ounces and should be inspected and drained regularly, typically every 2,000 to 3,000 miles depending on driving conditions.
