The J&L JLT3028P-B 3.0 Oil Separator helps protect the intake system of 2021-2026 Ford F-150 models equipped with the 3.5L PowerBoost engine. During normal crankcase ventilation, oil vapors can travel through the PCV system and accumulate in the intake tube, intake manifold runners, and combustion system. These deposits may reduce intake cleanliness and can contribute to lower fuel octane. The effect can be more pronounced on forced-induction engines, where increased crankcase pressure moves more vapor through the intake tract.
The J&L Oil Separator 3.0 is machined from solid billet aluminum for durable, long-term service. Its black anodized finish provides a clean appearance, while the knurled tank base makes removal and draining straightforward. An O-ring seal helps prevent leaks between the removable collection tank and separator body. Quick-connect PCV fittings simplify installation and maintain a secure connection with the factory-style ventilation system.
Inside, a multistage filtration system is designed to capture fine oil mist while allowing cleaner air to continue through the intake. A stainless steel mesh screen traps smaller vapors until they condense, and the aluminum honeycomb filter encourages additional separation so collected oil falls into the lower tank instead of continuing toward the engine. The separator has a 3-ounce capacity and should be inspected and drained periodically, typically every 2,000 to 3,000 miles, depending on driving conditions and engine use. This passenger-side application is designed specifically for compatible Ford F-150 3.5L PowerBoost configurations.
