The J&L 3.0 Driver-Side Oil Separator, part number JLT3024D-B, helps reduce oil vapor and contaminant buildup in the intake system of compatible Ford Mustang models. During normal crankcase ventilation, oil vapor can collect in the intake tube, manifold runners, and combustion system, potentially affecting intake cleanliness and fuel octane. These effects can be more pronounced in forced-induction applications where crankcase pressure is increased. This oil separator is designed for the driver side of 2018-2023 Ford Mustang GT models, including the 2019 Mustang Bullitt and select 2018-2020 Mustang GT applications.
The separator is milled from solid billet aluminum for durable service and finished with a black anodized coating. Its knurled tank base allows convenient removal for draining collected oil, while an O-ring seal helps prevent leaks. Quick-connect PCV fittings support a clean installation and simplify servicing. The compact design integrates with the vehicle’s PCV system without requiring direct alteration to the intake tract.
The multistage filtration system uses a fine stainless steel mesh screen to capture oil vapor particles and allow them to condense. Collected oil then passes into an aluminum honeycomb filter, where the vapor droplets combine into heavier particles that fall into the removable lower tank instead of continuing toward the intake. Cleaned air is released back through the PCV system. The reservoir holds up to 3 fluid ounces and should be inspected and drained periodically, with service commonly recommended every 2,000 to 3,000 miles depending on driving conditions and engine usage.
