The J&L Oil Separator 3.0 helps protect the intake system of 2007-2014 Ford Mustang GT500 models by capturing oil vapor carried through the crankcase ventilation system. Without separation, these vapors can accumulate in the intake tube and manifold runners, potentially contributing to carbon buildup and reduced effective fuel octane. Forced-induction engines can experience increased crankcase pressure, making an effective oil separator especially beneficial. This driver-side J&L separator is designed specifically for the GT500 application and features a durable black anodized finish.
The separator is machined from solid billet aluminum for dependable strength and long-term use. Its removable, knurled tank base simplifies draining, while the integrated O-ring seal helps prevent leaks. Quick-connect PCV fittings support a straightforward installation and secure connection to the factory ventilation system. The compact reservoir holds up to 3 fluid ounces and should be checked and drained periodically, typically every 2,000 to 3,000 miles depending on driving conditions and engine operation.
Inside, the multistage filtration system uses a fine stainless steel mesh screen to capture small oil vapors and allow them to condense. The collected oil then passes into a 1/2-inch-thick aluminum honeycomb filter, where additional surface area encourages larger droplets to fall into the removable lower reservoir. This process allows cleaner air to return to the intake while helping keep oil residue out of the engine’s intake tract.
