EBC Racing RP-X rear brake pads, part number DP82089RPX, are engineered for drivers who demand peak on-track braking performance. The RP-X compound delivers a 25 percent higher friction coefficient than EBC RP-1 across its operating temperature range, along with a more positive initial bite and excellent pedal feel. This makes RP-X well suited for heavy vehicles and applications with limited brake assist, where strong, immediate braking response is essential.
Designed to maintain true race performance at the highest recorded racing temperatures, these pads provide consistent stopping power during demanding track and competition use. The integrated Nucap NRS hook pad retention system helps secure the friction material to the stainless steel backing plates, while the compound is designed to be kind to brake discs compared with many aggressive racing materials. This rear pad set is intended for select BMW performance applications, including the BMW M5, M6, M3, M4, and M2 platforms listed for this part.
EBC Racing emphasizes that RP-X is optimized for maximum track performance, so increased brake dust and brake noise should be expected. Disc wear is comparable to many other popular track and race compounds but is greater than EBC RP-1, which can result in higher dust levels. RP-1 may be a better choice for light- to medium-weight vehicles, cars without EBC Big Brake Kits, or vehicles without ABS because of its less aggressive character.
