Product Overview
The CARDONE 27-7620 Remanufactured Power Steering Gear is engineered as a direct-fit replacement for select Ford E-Series vans and cutaway chassis (E-150, E-250, E-350, E-450, Econoline). As the core of the steering system, it converts steering wheel input into precise front wheel movement for stable, predictable handling—critical on heavily loaded vans, shuttle buses and RV conversions.
Each unit is fully remanufactured to OE standards using original-equipment cores, then hydraulically tested 100% to verify proper flow, pressure and internal sealing. All O-rings and lip seals are replaced with brand new components for leak-free operation, while shafts are refinished to exact OE tolerances to minimize friction and premature seal wear.
A durable “Cool Dip” rust-inhibitive finish protects the housing from corrosion and prevents cracking, flaking, or peeling over time. This particular part number is a conversion-style unit for specific E-Series applications:
-
Correct mounting bolts are supplied and must be used when noted.
-
On models with M14x2.0 mounting holes, this gear is designed to bolt directly in when used per the instructions.

Critical Installation Notes
Many applications explicitly state:
“Correct mounting bolts are provided with conversion unit and must be used. If mounting bolts are not supplied, this is not a conversion unit, and the old bolts must be used.”
and for some 2004 applications:
“with M14x2.0 Mounting Holes” and/or “with Front Axle Rating Over 4200 lb”
Make sure to:
-
Confirm build date on 2008 models (some are “Before 09/30/2007” or “Before 10/01/2007”).
-
Check whether your vehicle has M14x2.0 mounting holes or older-style hardware.
-
Use the supplied bolts where the catalog calls this a conversion unit.
For warranty compliance:
-
Flush the power steering system thoroughly
-
Install a new in-line power steering filter
-
Use OE-specified power steering fluid only
